In saving my important papers

In my home, I need to keep all the receipts and other important documents so that I can easily use it every year for my taxes. So, the result is that I have many files to keep with me trying to save all of my important papers. This is the reason why I am thinking of buying a document scanning machine or software so that I can simply save all my receipts, papers and everything that will help me with paying my taxes. And aside from the taxes, I also need my important papers for future references mostly for my small home biz.
